Quadrathon at Manchester Sports City on Sunday 27th June,
breaking the overall U13 boys record. The talented 12 year old
also recorded a brilliant 12.70 sec for the 100m.
27 June 2010 - A much more promising turn-out by Stoke AC
juniors at Stafford in the National Junior
League, capped by brilliant performances from Najee
Fox - Discus 46.19m who was also named man of the match, and
an astonishing 48.9sec 400m time by 16 year old middle distance
runner Tom Guy - full

26-27 June 2010 - Well done to Alexander Hulme for
qualifying for the English Schools
Combined Events Finals 18-19 September 2010. Alexander
came 4th in the Inter Boys Octathalon after 2 days of
events at Telford. This was his first ever multi-event meeting
and he gained PB's in 100m hurdles, 1500m, 400m, Discus, Shot
and Javelin!
26-27 June 2010 - Javelin thrower Brett Byrd was
top Stoke AC competitor in the AVIVA
European Trials and UK Championships in Birmingham. Brett
threw 69.88m to take a superb silver. Emma Jackson and Ashley
Nelson ran brilliantly but just missed out on medals with
4th places in the 800m and 100m respectively. Endurance runner Michelle
Ross Cope also performed strongly in the 10000m finishing
5th in 33.36.71. Other Stoke AC competitors included Chelsea
Cooper 200m - 25.19, Tom Gayle 1500m - 3.50.25 and Kate
Holt 1500m - 4.30.41 - a promising turnout for Stoke AC
after a number of years in the doldrums - full

23 June 2010 - Stoke AC win the Shugborough
Relays! The A team of Seb Duffy, Steve Bazell,
Mike Harding and Joe Broome led the 4x2mile race from start to
finish, with Seb running the fastest time of the night (9.27).
The masters team comprising Andy Allen, Gary Castrey,
Jeremy Wyatt and John Danahay won the Vets
category finishing 5th overall out of 246 teams. Our B team also

19 June 2010 - Congratulations to Brian Cole who is now the
United Kingdom 100k Champion! Representing England, Brian won the 'Anglo
Celtic Plate' at Boddington in
7 hours 7 mins and 21 secs, a PB performance in a
strong field, that did not see him taking the lead until the
59th mile of the 62 mile race. This equates to 6mins 49sec per
mile for 62 miles! Brian also led England to a 1-2-3 team win

11 June 2010 - With all the track athletics going on it is
easy to forget that Stoke AC have some great performers over
other disciplines too. Royal Marine Ultra Runner Brian Cole
tuned up for the Celtic Cup International 100k on the 19th June
with a good road race performance in the Plymouth
Half Marathon last week where he cruised to 6th place
overall in 73.59 and Brian is now also the Royal Navy Half Marathon
Champion, and then this week he won the Summer
Series off road race at Oakamoor
over 5 miles. In the Junior race at Oakamoor 14 year old Ashley
Wyatt and 12 year old Nick Stoddard ran strongly to
finish 3rd and 7th respectively. Over 40 masters road runner Darren
Washington was also very busy last weekend as he finished
7th overall in 57.14 in the Notts 10mile
race on Friday and he then eased round the very tough Buxton
Half Marathon as a training run in 1.27.07 for 9th
overall on Sunday!

meeting in Huelva, Spain as she set a new PB of 2.01.85,

win for Javelin Thrower Brett Byrd at Bedford as
he threw 68.17m to beat four throwers with PBs of over 70m.
Excellent jumping too from 17 year old Reece Davies 6.95m
Long Jump PB and 16 year old Rio Bailey 6.90m. Middle
distance runner Tom Gayle also produced an excellent
4.09.69 PB clocking in the rarely run 1 Mile - full

30 May 2010 - Stoke AC are back on the roads as Steve
Bazell, M40 Mike Proudlove and Dave Lee had
great runs in the Stoke 2010k road race.
Taking into account a course marshalling error which possibly removed about 1200m from the 10k distance, the guys
performances could be worth around 32.50, 33.00 and 34.50 for 10k - strong
running in windy conditions. Steve was officially awarded 2nd
overall with Mike 3rd overall and first M40 - full

With key members of the team delayed abroad by the volcano ash
there was a difficult start for Stoke AC's juniors as they
finished 8th in the first National Junior League
meeting at Loughborough. However there were some
outstanding individual performances - full

26 April 2010 - With elite lady Michelle Ross-Cope
suffering a calf injury and having to withdraw before the start
of the race, Royal Marine Ultra runner Brian Cole was our
sole participant in the London Marathon.
Using the race as a training run for the Celtic Cup
International 100k in June, Brian ran a comfortable pace all the
way, recording even splits throughout to finish in a time of
2.40.19 - full

members of his squad 'enjoyed' an unplanned extra week in
the Sun...
16-18 April 2010 - A superb result for Multi-eventer Alice
Lennox who has won the University
Student South Africa Athletics Heptathlon Championships
in Potchefstroom scoring 5074 points. Also in form was former
Stoke AC multi-eventer Roger Skedd who scored 7412 points
in winning the Decathlon which means that he has now exceeded
the Commonwealth 2010 qualification requirements for
Scotland!

Williams and Derek Yeomans and their athletes for
their outstanding performances in 2009. A special mention too
for Anthony Brannen who retired from coaching at the end
of last season and who coached top U20 multi-eventer Alice
Lennox, now based at St Marys in London to 5 GB
International vests. Many people may not realise that Anthony
was the UK's No1 Decathlete in 1995!
