MICHELLE ROSS SMASHES PB IN MANCHESTER 10K
Report
by Alan Morris
Michelle Ross ran superbly at the
Great BUPA 10km road race held in Manchester on the 20/05/2007
finishing in a time of 32:41 and smashing her personal best by
1:40. In a high quality elite womens field Michelle
finished 8th and 3rd British finisher behind Jo Pavey and
Kate Reed. This performance rates as her best of season so
far and elevates Michelle to 4th on the 2007 UK rankings just
ahead of Liz Yelling who also followed Michelle to the line
in Manchester.
Coupled with a 6th ranking position
in the half marathon performances this year these performances
show that Michelle is on target for a position in the Great
Britain team for the World Half Marathon Championships later in
the year for which she has already achieved the team qualifying
time.
Michelle has been with City of Stoke
for over 20 years since she was 12 years old, and although she
now qualifies as a veteran her recent performances should be an
inspiration to all female athletes as they demonstrate that
it is possible to continue their athletics careers whilst
raising a young family and working.
