3rd November 2001 BIRMINGHAM CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE- SENNELEYS PARK

7th (provisional) place in Division One was a great result in the typically strong first fixture. The Reebok Challenge always seems to drag out more of the top athletes. Lee Turner continued to improve with an excellent 23rd followed not far behind by Andy Allen and Mike Proudlove. Andy Mawdsley started better than next year and will obviously improve further. Alex Wright, Tom Gayle and myself had a real battle from gun to tape with experience just outlasting talent. Rob Rhodes also has more than enough skill to beat the team manager. Russ Scott will probably come back next year and beat the lot of us and... Andy Prophett made it round to maintain his amazing appearance record despite his best attempts to slow down the leaders. 10 finishers was pretty good for us - after 6 in the corresponding fixture last year - I'll have to start thinking about B teams!
