A much drier than usual Wye Road saw a great team result for the City Of
Stoke Senior Men - closing 6 in 21 for 82 pts, surprisingly ahead of
Moorlands and Trentham. A mixture of youth and experience saw us through
with a number of great performances. Pete Benyon finished in a close 4th with
myself not far behind in 7th. Adri did well to come in 15th after a
typically audacious start - frightening the hell out of all the leading
competitors in the first half mile! With 17 year old Gavin Walters in 17th,
Robbie Rhodes in 18th, and Ian Milner in 21st running very well after a
tough Denstone Half last week - our strength in depth showed.
The younger age-groups performed even better - We dominated the U17 men and
U15 boys with great wins for Wayne Knott and Alex Derricott, and the U13
boys finished 2nd.
The U11 girls also earned 1st place with a
narrow win over Trentham. The U13 girls completed a good day for Stoke with
3rd.
