Lewis remains unbeaten in Schools
International Match
Report by Tom Gayle
City of Stoke's best Pole Vaulter, 16 year
old Steven Lewis, continued his unbeaten record this season in the U17 age
group with a comfortable victory at the annual Schools International match.
The match, included the top two in each event
from each of the home countries, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern
Ireland based on the results from the recent National Schools competitions.
In a day dominated by England (the boys team
won all but one of the individual events) Lewis cleared 4.20 in blustery
conditions to his team mates Keith Highman’s (Border Harriers A.C) 3.80 as
the England duo took maximum points in the event, taking first and second
respectively.
Steven can now prepare for the next month’s
National AAA U17/U15 championships at Birmingham in confident mood of
improving on his Bronze medal from last year, and hopefully maintain his
unbeaten record.
