5th May 2002  YOUNG ATHLETES LEAGUE - WORCESTER

 

This was a hard fought victory by a team short of many first choice athletes that showed the spirit that is always there. Although the highlights of the day were Louis Moore's stunning run of 10.8 in the youths 100m, and Alex Nelson's 10.9 in the Boys 100m, which broke the league record, I must pay tribute to Lee Collis and Wayne Knott. Lee had already won the 3000m when he volunteered to run the 1500m Steeplechase, which he also won. Wayne, just returning from injury, offered to run the 800m after already running the 1500m. Without this sort of team spirit, we would not have won. We will be in better shape for the next match, featuring Birchfield on May 19th.
