CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE- SENNERLEYS PARK |

Rob Whalley was the star of the show in the traditional mass start to the
Birmingham League Cross Country season. Always close to the front Rob
battled throughout to finish 5th overall in the Reebok Challenge and just
beat Glynn Tromans to the Division 1 first place position. A depleted Stoke
team could not match this auspicious start but Andy Allen showed he is
rapidly getting back from injury with a fine 30th place.
Special mention should be made of Alex Derricott who won the U15 boys race
to win his second Reebok Challenge event of the series. This followed his
first win in Scotland a couple of weeks earlier. Alex looks set to dominate
the U15 Cross Country rankings this winter if he can build on this level of
form. To add to this, the U15 team, like Alex coached by George Cooper, won
the team race, the first time a Stoke team has done so at this level.
