29th November 2003 BIRMINGHAM CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE- NORTHAMPTON

Yet again a very small Stoke AC team trod on Birmingham League dirt at Northampton. Paucity in numbers was made up by committed effort and 8th place in the team race at least consolidated our position in the middle of the league. We've got to do better in getting runners out though!

Andy Allen yet again led us home with his mandatory top 25 position. I recovered from a double somersault with curl after half a mile to maintain my improved form since my 40th birthday rebuild last year.

Andy Mawdsley ran an excellent 45th in his last Birmingham League race before jetting off to Australia. Andy has been a committed Stoke runner for nearly 10 years and our thanks and best wishes go with him.

Steve Heathcote showed a glimpse of his potential in getting into the top 50. I am sure that he will use this as a trigger to improve massively this season.
Paul Hodgkinson also showed substantial improvement against Sennerleys Park - top 75 next time Paul? Our 6th counter was Adrian Thiemicke, again overcoming a lack of training to hit the top 100. I sure that Andy Prophett will run a lot better when he can train for more that a couple of days without a bug - there must be something in the water at Cheltenham.
