16th March 2003  CHESHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - MACCLESFIELD

The club's senior men's cross-country squad won their second league title of the Winter. The squad won all 3 fixtures this season to defend the title in style. I was back to close on 100% after February's blues and got past Steve Bazell with a lap to go. However, leader Paul Shannon from Stockport and myself were misdirected at the finish and did our best to try and complete an extra lap! Bazell was followed home closely by Jamie Pringle and U20 Gavin Walters for a comprehensive team victory. New recruit Paul Hodgkinson added extra strength with a fine 12th on his official debut.

Alex Derricott continued to dominate the U15 age group with a big margin of victory, a week after his confidence boosting 5th in the English Schools. Damian Gallagher also had a great run to finish 2nd. In the U17 men it was good to see Carl Shubotham getting back to racing after a long injury layoff.

In the U15 Girls Claire Shubotham showed a big improvement to finish an fantastic 3rd, and in the U11 Girls Georgia Greaves led home an excellent 8 Stoke finishers!
