27th April 2003  NATIONAL JUNIOR LEAGUE - JARROW

This was a disappointing start. Although I knew we would find it hard because of several athletes being absent, the fact that 3 athletes failed to turn up without letting me know is annoying, rude, and ultimately cost us 6th place, which we deserved, because of the hard work of the athletes who were there, several doubling up for the sake of the team. Nick Gayle achieved a sprint/hurdles double, Louis Moore performed well in Long Jump and Pole Vault, Gregg Nixon achieved an ESAA Entry standard in the Discus, and James Dohnal worked hard all day in spite of only a few hours sleep because he, like me, only arrived back from Spain this morning.

We now have a lot of catching up to do, and I will pick a team of athletes who want to compete in the next match.
