This was a great overall result, subject to confirmation, and many of
the boys performed well in the atrocious conditions. Some new Colts
did well, none more so than Matt Rollings who had a 1st in the Long
Jump and a 2nd in the 100m. In the boys, Alex Derricott and Damian
Gallagher made it a double in the 3000m and Alex Fotheringham got a
1st in the Hammer and a 2nd in the Javelin. We had doubles in the
Youths 100m with Alex Nelson and Martin Chomanicz, and Martin had his
own double by winning the 200m. Ashley Wilson and Richard Bailey had a
double in the Triple Jump, Sean Lewis won the Hammer, and Liam Jones
supported Carl Shubotham well in the 3000m; Carl once again showed his
team spirit by doubling up in the 1500m Steeplechase. Athlete of the
Match was Elliott Price with a high quality Shot and Discus double in
the Boys age group.
Taken separately, the Boys
may have finished 3rd on the day which means that we need to look at
those events where we finished 4th, or did not score at all and
improve them. This we will do for the next meeting at Coventry in a
fortnight.
