This was a much improved performance by all the team - there were many
PBs and hardly a bad performance all day.
The middle distance boys
had their best day ever, with several top class performances. In the
Youths age group,Liam Jones beat some good opposition to win the 3000m
Alex Nelson and Martin Chomanicz provided a sprint double, Alex
equalling the Stadium Record in 10.9 secs. Danny Gregory and Dan
Townson achieved ESAA qualifying times in the 400m and 400m Hurdles.
In the Boys age group, Leon Ashman made an impressive debut in the
400m, Alex Derricott and Damian Gallagher continued their dominance in
the 1500m and 3000m, and there were some successes in the field with
Andrew Marsh in the Pole Vault, Andy Davies in the Shot, Ben Richards
in the Discus and Alex Fotheringham in the Hammer and Javelin.
In the Colts there was success for Jacob Hart in the 800m, Matt Lowe
in the 1500m and Matt Rollings in the Long Jump.
Team player of the day was Kyle Williams, who filled in in the 3000m,
and also threw the shot and discus. Athlete of the day was Alex
Williams who won the Pole Vault, came second in the javelin, won the
"B" long jump, and set the 4 x 100m relay team off to a win
and a new stadium and club record.
We are now more or less
back on track to reach a final, as long as the team stays focused for
the next 2 matches.
