This was a very good performance by everyone in the
team. It was also an enjoyable day there. The youths picked up the
highest medal haul, with Alex Nelson sealing a great season with a
meeting record of 10.77 in the 100m. Martin Chomanicz won the B 100m
and also the 200m. Danny Gregory came 3rd in the 400m and 1st in the B
long jump. Andrew Waller came first in the B 400m. Richard Porter came
2nd in the B 200m. Kyle Williams came 3rd in the B 1500m. Liam Jones
and Alex Hall did the double in the 3000m, as did Dan Townson in the
400m Hurdles. Alistair Candlish and Scott Simpson both came 3rd in the
sprint hurdles. James Sherrett and Fred Mainwaring came 2nd and 3rd in
the 1500m steeplechase. Alex Williams was the most successful athlete
with gold in both the long jump and pole vault. Richard Bailey and
Ashley Wilson came 3rd and 1st in the triple jump. Sean Lewis and Tom
Dohnal both achieved a gold in the hammer. The sprint relay team won
and the 4 x 400m relay team came 3rd.
In the boys age group, Adam Bateman came 3rd in both
the 100m and 200m, Matt Hubbard came 1st in the B 800m, Alex Derricott
and Nathan Dring came 1st and 2nd in the 1500m, and Damian Gallagher
and Lee Hughes both came 2nd in the 3000m. Andrew Marsh and Chris
Thompson came 1st and 3rd in the pole vault, Elliott Price came 1st in
the shot, and Alex Fotheringham and Glenn Unsworth got gold and bronze
in the hammer.
In the colts age group, Chris Shaw came 3rd in the B
100m, Sam Hart and Matt Lowe came 2nd and 1st in the 1500m, and the
sprint relay team got a bronze. With a bit of luck, we could have won
the competition, but I am very pleased with the overall effort this
season and I am sure that the team will go from strength to strength.
