Skedd leads Stoke AC Combined Events
Medal Charge
Report by Tom Gayle
Rodger Skedd finally put the past
few years of injury and inconsistency behind him as he was one of
many Stoke athletes who excelled at the meet. Benefiting from the
new training regime he has undertaken since starting at Brunel
University in September, he forced the pre competition favourite
and 8 time English Schools Champion Edward Dunford (Birchfield) to
break the 5000 points barrier for the first time. Achieving
personal bests in six of the seven events enabled him to finish
just 200 points shy of victory in the overall competition but had
the consolation of scooping the Northern crown.
Further Regional medals were
obtained as both Vicky Consterdine and Nicola Brady repeated Skedd’s
feat by taking the Midland titles, while Shaun Heath and Charlotte
Ward claimed silver and Sophie Lowdes the Bronze in their
respective age groups
