21st February 2004  NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS - LEEDS

Yet again this winter Alex Derricott reigned supreme on the country and this time was also backed up by a superb U15 boys team performance. Looking very relaxed throughout, Alex just eased away from the field at Temple Newsome. A 15 second margin at the end of 14 minutes of running was the just reward for a great winter's effort, expertly directed by coach George Cooper.

Damian Gallagher also burst back into top form in 17th to form the basis of a gold medal winning performance, backed up by great efforts from Lee Hughes and Nathan Dring.

The best performance in the other age groups was by Alex Hall in the U17 men with 25th. Alex has another year in this age group and looks a great prospect.

In the U13 Boys Matt Lowe finished an excellent 64th and in the U17 women Rebecca Brown finished a fine 67th.

The U13 boys and U15 girls also completed teams in high positions.
