Despite being slightly below par in the second
meeting held at Alexander Stadium Birmingham, Stoke managed to secure third
team place thanks to a sterling effort by all.
Performance of the day came from Kate Holt in
the U15 1500m when she smashed her personal best by 9 seconds to record
4:48.0 in a hard fought race which she narrowly won by 0.7 seconds. This
performance is outstanding considering that Kate is still technically an
U13. Franchesca Champ also secured a personal best clocking 5:14.9 to take
the B string.
In the senior 800m Aimee Simcox improved her
best to 2:14.4 taking a comfortable victory, Clare Booker won the B race by
a very considerable margin.
Yasmine Gregory and Jessica Devaney won the A
& B U15 high jump respectively.
The result keeps Stoke in with a chance of
winning the division title if they can turn out a strong team in the final
meeting at Rugby on the 21st August.
Amanda Forrester continued her recovery to
take the Senior 100m whilst Ashley Nelson and Jasmine Rowe won both 100 and
200m in the U15 & U17 age groups respectively.
