Elliot Price 'man of the match'
The team's strength was severely reduced due to exams, injuries and illness,
but that considered the team still managed some great performances including
3 personal bests. Tom Dohnal got a PB in the hammer with 41.32m, Damien
Gallagher in the 3000m with a winning time of 9m 14.7 and Elliot Price (man
of the match) who won the shot with a distance of 14.06m. Elliot also won
the discus with a throw of 45.31m.
Allistair Candlish won the 110m hurdles A string and Dan Gregory the B
string, and both went on to run in the 4x100m team winning in 43.9. Also in
the 4x100m team was Andy Waller who won his B string 100m and 200m
races into a driving headwind, and added to the gutsy 4x400m relay team
performance by running a trademark last leg.
The fourth member of the winning 4x100m relay squad was Martin Chomanicz
who also ran some good times in the A string 100m and 200m races again into
a huge headwind.
In conclusion a great performance by all which could have easily been a
disaster for the team due to the lack of athletes, with a lot of people
taking parts in events that were not their own.
