The team gave a good overall performance, with
only 12 athletes and over 50% of
the team consisting of under 17's. Martin Chomanicz won the 100m and 200m,
with Richard Porter in the B string unfortunately suffering a recurrence of
a hamstring injury.
Alex Derricott came 1st in the 3000m and ran in the 4x400m relay despite
running at the masons trophy the day before, we were very grateful to him.
A few athletes again stepped into events they'd never tried before: Jack
Bibby in the B string hammer coming 2nd with 17.7m and Matt McCarthey B
strong javelin coming 5th with 14.77m.
Elliot Price once more excelled with a PB in the shot (14.11m) coming 2nd
and 1st in the discus with (44.45m). Ashley Stevenson came back from injury
after a year out, and came 1st in the high-jump with a jump of 1.95m.
Relay teams were put together at the last minute with only one member of
the main relay squad present. Tom Dohnal (hammer), Ashley Wilson (triple
jump) and Matt McCarthy (400m) with Martin Chomanicz the only regular relay
runner. They performed solidly with 47.2s coming in 3rd. Similar story with
the 4x400m with all team members working hard and coming in 3rd place with a
time of 3minutes 39.4 seconds, a time they can be proud of.
