12th November 2005	NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY RELAYS - MANSFIELD
	This national event saw a great turnout from the club across both the male and female age-groups. We fielded teams in every age group bar the U15s and U20 men and returned with 5 teams in the top 20. In the U13 girls Kate Holt produced perhaps the best individual performance to 'win' her opening leg and recorded 2nd fastest time of the day. The U13 boys were in the lead after 2 laps and eventually came home 5th overall, highest placing of the all the Stoke teams present. Jake Guest and Mark Shallcross in particular ran superbly. In the U17 men Alex Derricott easily 'won' the first leg and Damian Gallagher ran a great race to keep the lead at the end of the 2nd leg. Alex was also 3rd fastest overall. Helen Capper competed extremely well in the U17 girls. World youth games 800m finalist Emma Jackson ran strongly on the first leg of the U20 women.  In the senior women there was a superb performance by Michelle Cope, recording the 14th fastest time of the day and storming through the field to bring the team into the top 10. On the first leg Clare Booker recorded a personal best on this course. It was also good to see Nikki Daniels back after a long absence. The senior men faced the biggest field of the day and acquitted themselves well despite absences from injury and illness. Pete Benyon put in the quickest time for the team on the first leg.
