A superb personal best for Emma Jackson in the
400m and a good overall team performance. Fifth position overall could have
been improved on with more depth in certain events. It is encouraging
that we have managed to turn out teams double the size of the previous two
years, not in weight or height, but in numbers! This shows what can be
achieved with larger teams. However to move forward in the future we need to
have more specialist competitors in the field events. As we can't afford to
"buy" good athletes like some other clubs we need to develop them
through the club structure and then retain them at senior level. Easily said
but not easily done!! All in all I'm happy with the result but always
hopeful and striving for better.
