	Kate takes the Gold at last A magnificent win by Kate Holt in the U13 girls race was the highlight of a strong showing by Stoke AC athletes representing Staffordshire at the Inter-counties. Running a perfect tactical race, Kate was always in touch with whoever was the leader and this time she waited until the final 200m to unleash a kick that found no answer from the other competitors. In the U17 men Alex Derricott was out of sorts with a leg injury, which had prevented from him training for 10 days before the event, but he still ran pretty strongly to lead home Staffordshire for the team gold, with an excellent run from Damian Gallagher in 25th bringing the Staffordshire team home. Elsewhere, there was an excellent run from Michele Cope finishing 20th in the senior women's race. 800m track specialist Emma Jackson also showed her winter preparation is going well with 30th in the U20 women's event. In the senior men Tom Gayle continued his return to form with a strong run into the top 100 and 2nd in the Staffordshire team behind an outstanding run from Cannock and Stafford's Tom Humphries who was 3rd overall. In the junior men Alex Hall kept his first winter as a junior going well with a solid 52nd, with Liam Jones-Mansueto not far behind in 68th.
