  6th May 2006 MIDLANDS WOMENS LEAGUE - BIRMINGHAM


An excellent team performance in the first of three fixtures in the Midland Womens League Division 1 gave Stoke AC 2nd place behind Birchfield in a very close fought match.

Stars of the day were Chelsea Cooper with three wins from her three events, Jasmine Rowe with a double at 100 and 200m, which was matched by Beth Hicken in the U15 events, Alice Lennox in the 80m hurdles and the long jump.

There were personal bests from Kate Holt in the U15 1500m who destroyed the field with a fine solo performance, finishing with a winning margin of 13 seconds to secure a comfortable qualifying time for the English Schools in this event. Emma Jackson in the senior 1500m was also run away winner in a new personal best time in her first race of the season. Charlotte James recorded two PBs in the shot and hurdles whilst Sarah Wise ran a PB in the U15 800m. Kate Anderson recorded a PB at 300m just 60 minutes after finishing 2nd in the 800m

A promising start to the season with many fine performances on a wet and dreary day in Birmingham.
