23rd April 2006 NATIONAL JUNIOR LEAGUE - CANNOCK

Decimated by injuries and late withdrawals City of Stoke sent a small but high quality team to the first outdoors athletics league meeting of the season. In the circumstances 2nd in the junior men's match was an excellent result for the six men who made the relatively short trip to Cannock. Unfortunately no Stoke junior women took part so we finished 6th overall.

On a brighter note there was a good early season tactical victory for Alex Derricott in the 1500m with a much easier win in the 3000m. Dan Gregory in the 110m Hurdles and Tom Dohnal in the Hammer also scored high quality wins.

In the B string Shaun Heath picked up wins in both the 110m Hurdles and the Shot. Overall six men competed in 16 events which shows the high level of commitment that will hopefully be matched by their missing colleagues at the next match.
