NATIONAL
CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS - LONDON |
|
|
An outstanding silver medal for Kate Holt
in the U13 girls, and an excellent bronze for Alex Derricott in the
U17 men were the highlights of Stoke AC's small but high quality
representation in the National Cross Country Championships at Parliament
Hill Fields.
Kate finished a close runner up behind the pre race favourite Melissa Hawtin,
whilst Alex also showed much improved form to move up from 12th place in the
same event last year.
However, despite these individual successes and good performances from the
other Stoke AC athletes present the club was unable to complete a team in
any age-group for the first time in many years. The fact that North
Staffordshire had almost no representation at all from any of the other
local clubs is also surely a major concern for endurance athletics development
and sustainability in the area.
