A fourth consecutive victory ensured that City
of Stoke Masters team retained the Northern Division Championship for the
third year running.
Our Field athletes were in fine form with Clive Howell leading the way with
wins in the M50 Hammer and Discus. Morris Fox was also a convincing winner
in the M40 shot. Mike Warrilow and Paul Williams competed well to win the
M50 and M40 Long Jump competitions.
On the track, Mike and Paul both finished 3rd in the M50 and M40
200m. Richard Barrington sprinted superbly to win the M60 200m competition.
Adrian Thiemicke continued his good run of form with 3rd position
in the M40 800m and 4th in the 3000m. Ray Ibbs again ran well to
finish 2nd in the M50 800m.
Brian Eggleton showed what a great competitor he is with 3rd
place in the M60 800m and 6th place in the M40A 2000m walk. It
was good to see Dave Hindley competing again and he finished a credible 5th
position in the M40B walk.
Our relay team competed extremely well against much younger opposition and
finished 5th.
This was a particularly satisfying team performance as we were without 10
athletes. Those who were available pulled out all of the stops to ensure the
victory.
