27th January 2007	MIDLANDS CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007 - STAFFORD
	Overall this was one of City of Stoke AC's best championships for a few years with excellent individual victories for Michelle Ross (Senior Women) and Kate Holt (U15 Girls), and a brilliant Bronze for the rapidly improving Heather Holt (U17 Women). There was also a fantastic U20 Team Gold for the U20 men and a Team Bronze for the U17 Women. Amongst the other fine performances from coach Alan Morris' strong female squad, U20 800m International Emma Jackson was close to a medal in 5th, and Helen Capper was 8th in the U17 Women. U17 Kate Anderson in 21st brought home the U17 bronze team medal for the club. In the U13 boys Tom Guy showed much improved form to finish 8th with Kris Washington not far behind in 19th. Connor Bradbury and Luke Kinch also had good runs to complete the team in 4th pace overall.  Josh Kinch at last produced a cross country run reflecting his ability with a brilliant 17th in the U15 boys.  Steve Shubotham's U20 men's squad showed their potential with an excellent gold team medal, resulting from strong runs from Damion Gallagher, Alex Derricott, Carl Shubotham and Liam Jones. Carl was very unlucky to twist his ankle when battling for 3rd spot overall just after half-way, and he did a fantastic job to keep running at all. Damion continues to get stronger and stronger, and like Alex Derricott has another couple of years in this age-group. Alex is definitely on the mend after a virus and will also run a lot better in the next couple of months. Only recently back into training, Liam Jones did all he could to make sure that the team brought home the gold. Michelle Ross capped a great week on the country with one of her best ever results.
