Report by Tom Gayle
24 year old Wendy Davidson continued her encouraging transition into a 400m
hurdler specialist by collecting a Silver medal at Scottish National
Championships.
The Anthony Brannen coached athlete, who was the clubs only City of Stoke
A.C representative at the previous week’s World Trials/UK Championships,
revised her life time best by circuiting the track in 61.99 seconds when
placing second behind Elidh Child, the UK championship bronze medallist, who
won in an impressive 58.08.
For Davidson, the former heptathletes decision to switch event has been
rewarded with a highly successful 2007 campaign. Despite her infancy in the
discipline her silver medal can now be added to her seasons accolades that
include midland Bronze, Inter-counties finalist and World Trial/ UK
Championship qualifier, and a personal best that sits her 30th on
the current U.K rankings. I’m sure that with solid winter training she
will etch closer to the 60-second barrier in the event next year and
experience even greater success.
