5 medals for Stoke AC Athletes at the English
Schools
Another outstanding 15.72m Triple Jump from Ben Williams, and an excellent
5.72m Long Jump from Jazmin Sawyers gained the two Stoke AC and
Staffordshire athletes Gold Medals at the UK's top schools
competition.
Ben jumped a metre further than his opposition and in fact also jumped
further than the senior boys!
Likewise Jazmin showed her elders no mercy as she flew out to the longest
jump of the day.
Silver medals were won by Discus thrower Martin Bartholomew who finished
only a few centimetres short of gold, as did Jade Weston in the senior
girl's shot.
The final medal came from multi eventer Alice Lennox with a brilliant Bronze
in the Senior Girl's Long Jump.
A number of Stoke athletes finished in possibly the worst place in a
competition - 4th!
Rob Dean in the Hammer, Mark Cooper in the Pole Vault, Katie Gardner in the
Long Jump, Morgan Brown in the 100m and Chelsea Cooper in the 110m Hurdles
performed brilliantly and fell just centimetres short in each case. Their
time will come again.
The overall standard from the Stoke AC athletes showed that yet again we had
one of the strongest representations of any athletics club in the country at
these championships.
