15th June 2008  MIDLAND TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - BIRMINGHAM

Chelsea Cooper scooped 3 golds and showed that her comeback from injury is going well as she won the 100m hurdles, 200m and long jump in one afternoon!

Gregg Nixon also performed well as he took the senior Shot title, a bronze in the discus and 6th in the hammer.

However even with a number of junior athletes competing in the Staffordshire Schools Championships, and also internationally over the same week-end, the Stoke turn-out was small even by recent standards.

In other events other local athletes also competed strongly. There was another good run by former Stoke athlete Vicky Owen as she finished a very close second in the women's 800m, and leading junior cross country runner Matt Clowes from Staffs Moorlands gained his first track title over 3000m.
