8 June 2008 POTTERS HALF - STOKE-ON-TRENT

Are City of Stoke AC showing a little bit of a revival on the road?

Certainly UK International Michelle Ross is showing the way forward with an outstanding performance on this tough course made even tougher by the sun. Not quite able to match the early pace of the men (or possibly showing a little more experience of tough conditions) Michelle never really let the leading pack get out of sight and finished very close to outstanding individuals such as Ray Plant at the end. 10 minutes ahead of the next female competitor really showed the strength of this runner who deserves all the plaudits she will get from the locals now.

It was also great to see a sprinkling of other Stoke AC runners following Michelle home. It has been a while since we had more than one or two competitors in this race. Although on the surface we may appear to be a track and field club we actually have an extremely strong Road Running heritage, and hopefully we can begin to pick up on this again over the next few years.
