NATIONAL
CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS - LONDON |

I wasn't there but the photos show it was just a
bit muddy! A good sized group of Stoke AC's youngsters made the long trip
down to Parliament Hill fields and obviously found it quite hard going.
Hopefully the experience will motivate them to put a bit more into training
and the benefits should certainly show in the summer.
Having said that, there were still some fine performances - led by Kate Holt
finishing 12th in the U17 women, with younger sister Lucy a rapidly
improving 29th in the U13 race, and older sister Heather an excellent 41st
in the U20 women.
For the boys Ashley Wyatt was the star of the show with a strong 45th place
in a big U13 field - an improvement on 217th last year!
It was disappointing not to have any senior or junior men present, but we
made a conscious decision to concentrate on the Birmingham league this year.
A real sign of any improvement in our fortunes at senior level will be
completing a team in this race next winter.
