A Report by our 'Welsh Correspondent'
Another indoor championships, another medal
haul for city of stoke athletes! Having conquered the north of England two
weeks ago, James Gardner moved onto Wales this weekend. he won gold
with his second attempt of the competition with a leap of 6.99m setting a
welsh championship record in the process. This was the best of a good
series of jumps from James including two others over 6.90metres.
James was following his sister's example from
the day before when Katie won the under 17 welsh championship with a
season's best 5.12 metres. Katie also managed to pick up a bronze medal in
the shot on the same day with a significant personal best of 9.93metres.
These two results together with a recent PB in the indoor hurdles set her
up for the possibility of a good performance in the upcoming National
multi-events championship in early March.
