Report from Natasha Clowes
The English Schools Cross Country Championships saw the end of this year's
cross country season and what a way to end it. A just reward for those
selected to represent Staffordshire was an overnight stay in a very nice
Hotel. An experience that everyone enjoyed and an opportunity to build new,
and on existing friendships.
As it turned out this was one of the toughest courses experienced this year,
where determination was needed by all. The girls from the junior girls team
produced excellent results and finished the season on a high. Lucy Holt
finished a tip-top position of 22nd followed by Tasha Stone positioned 130th
and Jessica Heath 132nd but both crossing the line with an exceptional time
of 11:14. Natasha Clowes finished a more than acceptable 162nd.
The Intermediate girls completed their fabulous season on an all time high.
Sophie Plant finished a marvellous 154th over the 4000m course followed
closely by Sammey-Jo Daley Davies in 170th. There was an incandescent
performance by Lucy Hayes, who made a strong come back to competition after
her period of injury, completing the course in a time of 15:39 and a
position of 189th.
Kate Holt again set her standards high in her senior race rounding off the
season with an excellent position of third place and a time of 15:23 over
the tough 4500m course. A breathtaking end to the season for which all
should be congratulated.
We are now looking forward to the track season and hoping to see more
brilliant results!!!
