2nd May 2010 NATIONAL YOUNG ATHLETES LEAGUE - NORTHWOOD

A brilliant team performance & too many winners to list!

A special mention though for U13 800m runner Joel Mann who set a new club record of 2.16.8, and U17 Eden Gibson who triple jumped her way to an outstanding 10.83m.

Well done to everyone.

Girls Team Report by Natasha Clowes:

Although the rain stayed off the winds were very harsh and it was extremely cold but once again Stoke AC had a triumphant win with 712 points

U13G
In her first track season Amelia Beresford led all the way on the 800m to settle just one of her two victories, as she again triumphed in the 150m pipping Alice Hall. Alice had several fantastic races throughout the day with PBs in the 75m and 150m.

Another fantastic race was won by Megan Cogan who pulled a 5 second gap down the home straight to finish the 1200m with a time of 4:06.8 04 and a Grade 2. Another PB came from Annalisa Townsend in the 800 metres with an excellent time of 02:48.9

Also, the under 13 relay team of Annalisa Townsend, Amelia Beresford, Harriet and Alice Hall ran a showstopping race to win with a time of 56.8

U15G
Heidi Jackson claimed two fantastic PBs in both the 100m with a time of 13.5 and a ranking of 83rd in the UK and the 200m with a time of 27.4

On her discus debut for the Young Athletics League, Chloe Heath threw a marvellous distance of 9.26 meters. Rachel Francis got a PB in shot put throwing a commendable 9.00 meters to rank 42nd in the country. Natasha Clowes also got PBs in both of her races 2:33.1 in her 800m, and 28.0 in her 200m. She also helped the U15 relay team (Louise Boden, Natasha Clowes, Rachel Francis and Heidi Jackson) come 2nd by a toe, with a pleasing time of 53.1 and a ranking of 8th in the country.

Natasha said "I am pleased with the results, I and the team have achieved today despite the weather and I hope to continue these results throughout the season (hopefully injury free)!

U17W
Jessica Griffiths threw the hammer a distance of 13.65m for the first time. Despite suffering from injury Lucy Hayes ran a superb time of 2:31.8 over 800 meters followed closely by Aimee Hargreaves who ran a time of 2:32.7. Kloe Willis-Bradbury also ran an excellent time of 11:31.7 in the 3000m getting her a PB, and a ranking of 51st in the UK.

Elizabeth Nicholls threw the discus 20.68m giving her a PB and ranking 254th in the UK. Sarah Lovewell came 2nd (as she was piped at the post) with a brilliant time of 5:24.1 in the 1500m. Katie Gardner threw the javelin a marvellous distance of 28.62m, also getting herself a PB and a ranking of 56th in the UK for her age group.

With such a large and interesting array of talent it is hard to include everybody so apologies to those who didn't get a mention.

Team scores:
1. Stoke - 712 points
2. Mansfield - 521 points
4. Coventry Godiva - 410 points
