Proof that City of Stoke AC are one of the Midland’s strongest cross country running clubs has been backed up by Athletics Weekly’s latest individual National rankings for the 2015/16 Cross Country season.
Lucy Holt is highest placed with 16th place in the junior women’s category. In every race, local, regional and national Lucy finished in the top 10, showing great consistency across a long season. She only completed her cross country season this weekend with a brilliant win in the Association of Colleges Cross Country Championships in Newcastle Upon Tyne (See separate report).
Senior man Alex Brecker stepped up a massive level this winter and has been ranked 17th nationally. Highlights included winning the Midlands Senior Championship, a 4th place in the British Students Championship, and finishing first Briton in the World University Cross Country Championships.
Best single performance of the winter was definitely by Kate Holt however, with an absolutely awesome 3rd place in the Senior Women’s National Cross Country Championships at Donnington. Kate is unlucky I feel to have been ranked only 19th overall in the senior women’s category this winter.
Well done to all!
