The Coaching Assistant course is suitable for those new to coaching as their first step on to the coaching pathway. The Coaching Assistant Award provides prospective coaches with an introduction to coaching athletics via a range of run, jump and throw skills and activities. To support the multi event approach for developing athletes, Coaching Assistants will be expected to deliver a range of sessions that develop running, jumping and throwing skills.
Current athletics coaches who are already qualified on the old UKA pathway (UKA Levels 1-4) are also advised to attend especially if they are supporting new coaches. This is so they are aware of the new content and how the new coaches are being trained.
